how did plastic bottles come into existence? I hear so many different versions why (the number one being that glass was bad for the environment, so plastic came about)…I just thought maybe you would have a more clear answer…thanks for the facts man, interesting
Noah, essentially it comes down to dollars and cents. Glass, and even aluminum for that matter, takes a lot more energy to go from raw material to a usable product. Modern plastics like PET, which most plastic bottles are made from, have been commercial used since the 40′s and 50′s. However, it really wasn’t until the 60′s that we were able to create the light weight and low production cost bottles you see today.
